A. REQUEST:
Reallocate the Building Custodian I 1/2 Time to Park Caretaker 1 F/T and
transfer the position from Recreation to the Parks Maintenance DIvision.
B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED):
The department is in the process of reviewing all maintenance positions in
the various divisions and consolidating these assignments under the Parks
Division. -
By doing so, the continuity and back-up coverage will be provided, in comparison
to our current operations when a Recreation custodian is out, then the facility
is not cleaned or at times, we are having the white collar employees work out -of
class and perform Unit 1 work in order to continue our programs.
The increase in time is being requested to address weekend coverage in the
North Kohala district, which is currently handled either on Saturday or Sunday
when employees are willing to work the overtime.
The King Kamehameha Statue in North Kohala attracts many tourists over the
weekend and the restrooms and surrounding areas need to be cleaned regularly.
By increasing the hours of the position and changing the work schedule, we
will have weekend coverage for restroom sanitation and rubbish pick up.
