(Res. 80-03) KALAM STREET FOR TANTE AND ARACELI URBAN. A'I~ KAILUA-KONA,
HAWAI'1 (TMK: (3) 7-5-022:38 and 39)
from Environmental Management Director Barbara Bell, dated April 29, 2003,
transmitting the above resolution pursuant to Section 21-26.1(b). Hawaii County
Code. The applicant proposes to construct the sewer extension for the County and in
return, receive stated benefits from the County for the stated period of time.
Comm. 266: DEBRIS DUMPING -RELATING TO CHAPTER 20. HAWAII COUNTY CODE
(REFUSE), SECTION 20-45
Prom Councilmember Leningrad Elarionoft, dated June 9, 2003, transmitting a copy
of a letter from Waikoloa Village General Manager John Schick, dated June 3, 2003,
stating that a wildfire at Waikoloa Village on Sunday, May 18.2003, that burned
approximately 400 acres and threatened several residences, was fueled by dry
vegetation and dumped debris and plant trimmings. Suggests an increase to the
penalty for illegal dumping from the current nol to exceed $500 to $5.000 or more as
a stronger deterrent against dumping. States, if enforced, this could increase the
County's General Fund and save nn the costs of fighting fires fueled by illegally
dumped materials.
