1. The bill will protect workers in all businesses including restaurants and bars from the health
consequences of second hand smoke. Second hand smoke is the 3rd most preventable cause
of death in the USA.
2. Studies of communities that have gone smoke free show that it does not negatively affect
business and sometimes boosts it. This is according to studies that use sales tax data and
sound research methods.
3. USA Today survey showed more than half of Americans say they regularly avoid places to
keep from smelling of cigarette smoke afterward. Places they avoid include: Bars/lounges
(70%) Night Clubs (59%), restaurants (48%).
