Subject: Support for Draft 3 of Anti-smoking Bill
Dear County Council Chairman Arakaki and Members of the Hawaii County
Council,
I urge you to vote FOR draft 3 of the anti-smoking bill. I am against
Draft 4 of the bill because it would allow smoking to be done in what
are considered public places--common areas in hotel lobbies and bars.
Additionally, draft 4 would allow smoking to take place in daycare
establishments, and the 15 foot set back boundary of doors and openings
would be eliminated in Draft 4. Health risks of second hand smoke have
already been determined; draft 3 of the bill recognizes these risks
while draft 4 ignores them.
Please vote FOR Draft 3.
