Subject. Bill 260....Smoking Ban
I have submitted one testimony, however, in reading in West Hawaii Today that there was
a proposal to exclude licensed child care residences and adult care facilities I must again
remind everyone. THIS IS A HEALTH ISSUE. You would sacrifice the health of children
because someone wants to smoke?? You've got to be kidding!!
My not smoking does not harm anyone and the freedom to do as one pleases should stop
when it affects any other person's health and well-being. If you could have robots working
in bars that would be o. k. but since that isn't the case I feel we have a moral obligation to
protect our workers. People fly for hours at a time and survive without a cigarette. They
will adjust!
The newspaper quoted one statement " I'm just proposing a draft people can live with."
That's the problem, if they live with it they can also die because of it...!!
The dangers of smoking and second hand smoke has been proven over and over again.
Please have the courage to vote for a clean environment in which to work and play. We
can't do anything about the volcano's fumes, but smoking is an issue that you can control.
