- Re: Bill 26fl Relating to Smoke-Free Indoor
Workplaces
Hearing date: June 18, 20G3 in'Ikona
My name is Serene Silverman-Kacsur. I strongly support Bi11260
designating ALI, workplaces as sm.okefree, and ask that the
County Council pass a bill thad covers ali workplaces, including
restaurants, bars, nightclubs and bowling alleys.
Very important FACT to remember. Since 1998. California has
had SMOKEFREE businesses and there has NOT been a drop in
business for bars and nightclubs. Staaokers rights should be the
rights of ALL workers not to be exposed to second hand smoke,
which as you ;snow, has beer proven to caase a worse case of
cancer in second hand smoke then first nand smokers.
I strongly support Bill 260 without exemption, which would
effectively prohibit smoking in all workplaces, recognizing the
importance of providing a safe workittg environ.~nent for all
employees inciuding those of bars and ttightcluFss and bowling
alieys.
I urge the council to pass this bill with the inclusion of bars and
nightclubs and bowli alleys {where children frequent also).
