Kona Council Office

Kailua-Kona, HI 96740 -
Dear Councilman Tyler:
I will start this letter by answering Councilman ElariunolY's question
from the last Kona meeting - At one point in my life I chose to smoke.
At another time I chose nul to smoke.
I'm writing to express my concern over the way tha Smoking Ban
issue is being handfed. I came to the last meeting at the Keauhou
Ohana Hotel. I was truly disappointed in the lack of eryuity when it
came to testimony times. The people testifying in opposition were
held to thra® minutes. Those In favor of the Ban Spoke well over that
amount of time. Most of these people were representatives of
Coalitions (Tobacco-Free), Societies (Cancer) and Associations
(American Medical and Lung}. None of whom elected you or pay your
salary.
We, the people, the people who elected you and who pay your salary
are not getting a fair shake on the REAL Issue. The REAL, Issue ~s
freedom of choice. By not putting this issue out to the public for vote,
the Council has made personally driven decisions taking away the
voter's right to chose. -That strikes at the very core on which this
Country was founded. As a combat Veteran you served so that we
may have the Freedom of Choice. Was that in Vain?...

I thank you for your time. t1
