I am a musician with a local band. None of our band members smoke. The primary venues that hire musicians are bars. During a night of playing we are forced to breathe second hand smoke. As a singer it is difficult. Our drummer is my 16year-old son. I am especially concerned for his well-being. He is a talented and committed drummer who has a future in the music field. His playing music professionally is essential but it should not be at the risk of his health. Please continue to support the ban on smoking along walkways and in shopping centers. There is smoking allowed at Honolulu International Airport on the open, elevated walkway out to the concourses. I have to hold my breath to walk through [hat area when 3 or more people are smoking there! If smoking were harmless it would still be an infringement to have to breaWe someone else's smoke. The proven fact that it is life-threatening makes it imperative to protect those who consciously choox not to smoke. All areas of public life should be available and safe. Thank you for your hard work on this very important bill. Sincerely, ~ Donna Duryea Cc: Mayor Harry Kim A Conan. No. • 0 Ref. Toy Ref. Date 2~_
