Aloha Vice Chairman Tyler,
I would like to ask the Council on behalf of the Kona-Kohala Chamber of Commerce to
look carefully at the anti smoking bill as it stands. While we are in support of smoke free
workplaces such as restaurants, bars and offices the Kona-Kohala Chamber of
Commerce does not intend to infringe on, in any way, the personal rights of citizens.
Our position is related to the health of employees while in the work place. There are
several issues in the current bill that we feel erc infringing on the personal rights of
individuals. The bill must be enforceable on every level to be effective. We ask that you
carefully Consider the recommendations of Mayor Kim before approving a final bill.
