SUBJECT: TRAFFIC CODE AMENDMENT
Chin Chuck Road
Proposed 25 and 35 Mile Per Hour Speed Limits
We received a request from the Police Department to establish speed limits
along Chin Chuck Road which is presently unregulated. A speed study
consisting of trial runs was conducted and we conclude speed limits ranging
from 25 to 35 miles per hour is appropriate for this roadway. The Hawaii
Police Department concurs with this proposal which will aid them in their
speed enforcement efforts.
We request the Hawaii County Code, Chapter 24, Article 10, Section 24-255,
Schedule 3 (25 mile per hour limit) and Section 24-257, Schedule 5 (35 mile
per hour limit) under (c) Hilo be amended as described in the attached draft
for an ordinance. A location map is attached.
Under separate cover, we are transmitting the proposed ordinance to the Public
Works Committee Chair for introduction.
We ask for your review and consideration for adoption of the subject
