Wilson, Publisher of the Hawaii Tribune Herald, has requested a vaziance from the <br /> County Code to allow placement of a sign, which does not conform with the County Code, in <br /> front of their new building. This matter has been placed on the Public Works and Parks <br /> Committee agenda for its meeting on May 19, 1997. <br /> Upon investigation, we have discovered that the proposed sign will be located within the <br /> Downtown Hilo Redevelopment Plan azea. This matter thus falls within the jurisdiction of the <br /> Hawaii Redevelopment Agency. - <br /> Consequently, we would respectfully request that this matter be submitted to the Hawaii <br /> Redevelopment Agency for its review and recommendation. In particular we would appreciate <br /> your advice as soon as possible, as to whether the Hawaii Redevelopment Agency's authority <br /> over this matter supersedes the authority of the County Council.
