RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF AN AUTOMATIC EXTERNAL DF,FIBRILLATOR (AED) TO THE;
HAWAI'[ COUNTY COUNCIL FROM DR. AND MRS. EARL BAKKEN
WHERF;AS. Dr. Earl Bakken and his wife, Doris Bakken, wish to donate a Lifepak 500 Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
manufactured by Physio-Conerol Corporation to the County of Hawaii, to be used by the County Fire Department personnel in the Hawai' i
[bunty Building, located at 25 Aupuni Street. Hilo, Hawaii: and
WHEREAS, the value of this donation is approximately THREE THOUSAND'THRI?E F{UNDRED'1'HIR'CEEN AND NO/100
DOLLARS ($3.313.00); and
WHEREAS, Article X111, Section 13-12 of the I~awai'i County Charter, provides that the Council on behalf of the County. may
accept gins of donations of money, securities or other personal property or of real estate or any interest in real estate:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT IZESOL,VEU BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF' HAWAI'1 in accordance with Article
Xl l 1, Section 13-12, Hawaii County Ch~t_rter, the County of Hawaii is authorized to accept the donation of a Lifepak 500 Automatic
F xtemal Detbrillator [n be utilized in the Hawaii County Building located at 25 Aupuni Street Hilo, 1 tawai'i.
BE fC FURTHER RESOLVED that a letter of appreciation be sent to Dr. Earl Bakken and Doris Bakken at Y.O. Box 384360.
Waikoloa. Hawaii 96738. extending the County of 9lawai'i's heartfelt gratitude and appreciation for their thoughtful and generous
contribution to the health and safety of the people of Hawai' i County.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall forward copies of this resolution to Dr. Earl Bakken and Doris
Bakken: Mayor Harry Kim; Director of Finance William Takaba; and Fire Chief Darryl Oliveira.
