Dear James Arakaki and Counc~ Counci- Members,
I would like to take th a oppon unity to •?oice my concerns regarding amending Section 25-8-33,
Article 8, Chapter 25 of the Hawaii County Code, by changing the District Classification from
Agricultural (A-20s) to Fami Ly Agriculture (FA-la) at Raumana, South Hilo, Hawaii. This ammendment
would allow an Oahu developer to bui_d uP to 114 new homes just above Wilder Road Specifically:
I would like to have ap_.sopriat< representation of our district on the council be present for
these deliberations. I beliwe it to be inappropriate for a project of this size and potential impact
to he approved without a cou~:cilman represent the community's r_oncerns, and;
I wou-d like to have an opportui.i ty to speak my mind on this maCtex ar a public hearing, and;
If approved, I would ce-tainly expect that there be a proper recreational facility created. I do
not bel ievC landowner R.M. 7~wi71, wk.o states that we have enough recreational oppor tun'ities based on
Kaumana Cave and a nonexiste.it Kaumar~a Playground.
I sincerely implore the Council to delay any type of approval, including prel iminacy of Bi11 44,
Draft 2 until some of concer_s are addressed.
