detine their department's mission and identify levels of service, it has been determined
that with respect to the establishment of Volunteer Fire Stations, that they may have been
operating outside of their scope of authority.

necessary to provide adeyuale,/ire protection. Therefore, it appears that the authority to
establish a volunteer fire station rests with the Council and not the Fire C hief.
States he will continue to work with all communities that express a desire to establish a
volunteer fire station; however. he will request that a formal communication be addressed
to their respective Council representative to assure that the matter is brought before the
Council for approval.

Departments Youth Gang Response System program from the State Department of
human Services Ofticc of Youth Services, bringing the total grant appropriation to
$170,000)
