Re: Efforts to eradicate '•ice"
Aloha, Councilman Tyler,
I applaud the combined efforts of community and county (including
young people) to face the growing "ice" problem. I continue to
question, however, the diversion of valuable and limited
county/federal resources toward marijuana eradication and the
pursuance of petty marijuana users. Overwhelming empirical
evidence and statistical data show that the crime, mayhem, and
destruction of lives and souls caused by "ice" use in no way
compares to the relatively benign use of marijuana; yet marijuana
eradication and the arrest of marijuana users continues to divert
precious resources and attention away from solutions to the dire
challenges of the use of hard drugs here in West Hawai i.
it is my hope that county resources will be used t:o focus on the
real threats that "ice" and other hard drugs pose to our society,
and that marijuana will be dropped from the sights of the •'big
guns" needed to help save our youth and communities from the real
threat of "ice" use that we all face.
Mahalo for your attention in this critical matter.
Sincerely,
Janice Palma-Glennie
