Re: Fire Department Donation
Enclosed is a resolution accepting a monetary donation of $18,000 from the Daniel R.
Sayre Memorial Fund, c/o 65-1279 Kawaihae Road, Parker Square, Room 203,
Kamuela, Hawaii 96743. The funds will be used for the purchase of rescue and fire
equipment.
Also enclosed is a bill for an ordinance amending the Operating Budget by appropriating
an additional $6,000 to Fire's Rescue Equipment -Private account. In anticipation of
this donation, $12,000 was included in the current year's budget. Therefore, only the
remainder of $6,000 is being appropriated.

B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED):
The Daniel R. Sayre Foundation annually provides funding to the Hawaii County Fire Department to be
used for the purchase of rescue and fire equipment. The donation for this year totalled $18,000 and was
received on 9/2/03. The fiscal year 2003-04 operating budget anticipated funds of $12,000, hence this
ordinance request for $6,000.
