HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 100 Draft 01 2002-2004 COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII RESOLUTION NO. 1~~o p~ RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE OFFICE OF THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, PURSUANT TO HRS 46- 7, FOR A PUBLIC HEALTH PREPAREDNESS AND RESPONSE FROM BIOTERRORISM GRANT WHEREAS, the United States of America through the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has authorized funding for a Public Health Preparedness And Response From Bioterrorism Grant to the Hawaii County Fire Department; and WHEREAS, these funds, passed through the State Department of Health, EMS Division, will be used to purchase afully-equipped trailer configured for medical response to a mass casualty incident resulting from weapons of mass destruction or natural disaster; and WHEREAS, the trailer will be equipped with personal protective and decontamination equipment, medical supplies, nerve agent antidotes or other items approved by the State's EMS Medical Director; and WHEREAS, Hawaii Revised Statutes, Section 46-7, requires that county departments obtain the consent of the council to enter into agreements with the federal or state governments respecting action to be taken pursuant to any of the powers granted by law to furnish, expend, and receive any funds or other assistance in connection with projects being or to be undertaken pursuant to those powers. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the Office of the Mayor is authorized to enter into an Agreement for a Grant Contract with the U. S. Department of Health & Human Services. EE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor of the County of Hawaii is authorized to sign the above-referenced agreement and any related documents on behalf of the Office of the Mayor and the County of Hawaii pursuant to the Hawaii County Charter. EE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the County Clerk of the County of Hawaii shall transmit copies of this resolution to the Office of the Mayor, the Finance and Fire Departments, and U.S. Department of Health & Human Services.
