Subj: Comments regarding Valta Cook and Day Day Hopkins
Aloha!
Re: Valta Cook:.As a member of the County Appeals Board, 1 have had the pleasure of
working with Mr. Cook For over a year and can tell you, from direct observation, that this man
has an outstanding legal mind. More importantly, he clearly has the demeanor and cool
objectivity needed for all councilpersons. As an Appeals Board member, his experience in policy
making matters speaks for itself. He would he an asset to the Council and a good and able
servant fns the people of Hawaii.
Re: Day Day Hopkins: As an adjunct lecturer at UH-Hilo and the Hawaii Community
College, I have also had the pleasure of working with Mrs. Hopkins up close. From direct
experience, I can tell you that her economic and financial credentials, as an ABD (All But
Disseration) are impeccable. Her Planning Department position vouches For her experience in
policy making matters. She would be an asset to the Council and a good and able servant for the
people of Hawaii.
