TraHlc Code Amendment - Kilauea Avenue Waiakeawaena Elementary School Proposal
Dear County Council Members:
On behalf of the Waiakeawaena Elementary School PTA, I am seeking your support of the above-
mentioned traffic code amendment. As parents, we have witnessed first hand the dangerous conditions
that this amendment would correct. Our chikdren's safety is paramount. Passage of this amendment will
be beneficial for two reasons:
1) The traffic bads up at the KinooleMawailani intersection would decrease. Presently, the bads up
intensifies with the buses drop off and pick up. Exiting buses making a left tum onto Kawaflani
Street compound the problem. A relocation of the school buses onto Kilauea Avenue would
correct this problem.
2) Relocating of the Kilauea Avenue crosswalk to the traffic light will remedy speeding drivers, who
are unaware of pedestrians and our adult crossing guard. There is past history of several near
misses. Our children are too valuable to be exposed to this threat. Relocation of the crosswalk
will correct this problem.
As president of our school's PTA, I request your support in passing the above-mentioned traffic code for
the improved welfare of our children.
Sin ely,
