This communication serves to clarify a question that was raised in regards to
Communication - 320, the appointment of Ms. Laura Galuzzi, to the Hawaii
County Committee on the Status of Women.
This committee was established under the authority of the Hawaii Revised
Statutes (HRS), Section 367-4. After the initial staggered term appointments of
the members, the members are appointed to serve terms of four years.
Ms. Laura Galuzzi has been appointed to a term of less than four years because
she is replacing Ms. Mary Andrews who resigned. Ms. Andrews was originally
appointed to a four-year term ending on December 31, 2004. Ms. Galuzzi has
been appointed to fill out the remainder of Ms. Andrews' term.
The letter of resignation from Ms. Andrews is attached.
I hope that this clarifies any question on the term of Ms. Galuzzi. If there are any

Aloha Mayor Kim,
After serving several very enjoyable terms as a member of the Hawaii County Committee
on the Status of Women, I find that it is time to step aside, and let others serve in my place.
New perspectives and diverse ideas aze often what keep any organization functioning at its
optimum. I believe there aze many individuals in Hawaii County who could offer much to
the Committee on the Status of Women.
I very much appreciate your faith and trust in appointing me to this position, and I hope
that I can continue to serve perhaps, another day and in another way for the betterment of
our friends and neighbors in Hawaii County. For now, I need to attend to my own family
and their concerns.
