These funds, donated as part of Wal-Mart Kona's community involvement program, will be used towards the purchase of educational materials to be distributed to the public in commemoration of Fire Prevention Week in October 2003 and of Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Week in May 2004. Also enclosed is a bill for an ordinance amending the Operating Budget by appropriating the $1,500 monetary donation into the Fire Department's Fire Protection OCE account. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED): Wal-Mart Kona, as part of their community involvement program has donated $1,500 to the Hawaii County Fire Department. The funds are to be used to purchase educational materials to be distributed to the public in commemoration of Fire Prevention Week in the month of October and EMS Week (Emergency Medical Services) in the month of May of next year, and other related events.
