RESOLUTION NO. 03
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF A MONETARY DONATION OF $1,500 TO THE
HAWAI9 COUNTY FIRE DEPARTMENT
WHEREAS, Wal-Mart Kona, as part of their community involvement program, has donated $1,500 to
the Hawaii County Fire Department for the purchase of educational materials to be distributed to the public in
commemoration of Fire Prevention Week in the month of October 2003 and of Emergency Medical Services
(EMS) Week in the month of May of next year; and
WHEREAS, Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawaii County Charter provides that the Council, on
behalf of the County, may accept gifts or donations of personal property; and
WHEREAS, the Hawaii County Fire Department recommends the acceptance of this donation.
NOW, THEREFORE, 13E IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that in
accordance with Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawaii County Charter, the Council of the County of Hawaii
accepts the $1,500.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a letter of appreciation and a copy of this resolution be sent to
Ms. Mary Jane Ewing, Manager, Wal-Mart Kona, 75-1015 Henry Street, Kailua-Kona, Hawaii 96740,
acknowledging this generous donation.
