Re: Waiola "Waters of Life" Public Charier School
TMK No. (3) 1-7-08:003
Deaz Mr. McClure;
Thank you for your fetter dated October 6, 2003. Upon close review of your letter, we
must again ask that your department enforce the building code violations presently occurring on
the subject property.
While the Waters of Life school officials have denied using the existing main structure to
conc:net school, your letter provides that the shade cloth areas cannot be used "continuously" for
school rooms, even if a building permit were to be obtained. This connotes knowledge on your
part that the shade cloth areas are is fact being used for class rooms in violation of the building
code. We are not aware of any code provisions which allow the temporary use of shade cloth
areas for school or classroom purposes.
Enclosed please find a copy of a photograph contained in the October 4, 2003 edition of the
Honolulu Star Bulletin, which cleazly depicts thlj ongoing use of the shade cloth area for classes.
We ask that your department enforce the building code and request the school to terminate
the use of the shade cloth aroas for classrooms. The use of the area under the guise of conduction
daily "field trips" can no longer be sanctioned or encouraged by the County.
Please let n,e know if you have further questions relating to the above.
Very truly yours,
TSUICAZAK~I'/YEH & MOORE
