HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 126 Draft 01 2002-2004 COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII RESOLUTION NO.126 03 RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE OFFICE OF THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH THE STATE OF HAWAII DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION, PURSUANT TO HRS 46-7, FOR A RURAL PARATRANSIT SYSTEM STUDY GRANT WHEREAS, the State of Hawaii Department of Transportation, through its State Planning & Research (SPR) program, has authorized funding towards the Hawaii County Mass Transit Agency's Rural Paratransit System Pilot Study; and WHEREAS, this grant will be used for a pilot study for a rural paratransit system plan for the Puna and Kona districts; and WHEREAS, a paratransit system includes public and private mass transportation in the spectrum between the private automobile and conventional transit, and includes modes that are demand responsive and share rides; and WHEREAS, the funds provided by the State Department of Transportation, are derived from grants provided by the federal government; and WHEREAS, Hawaii Revised Statutes, Section 46-7, requires that county departments obtain the consent of the council to enter into agreements with the federal or state governments respecting action to be taken pursuant to any of the powers granted by law to furnish, expend, and receive any funds or other assistance in connection with projects being or to be undertaken pursuant to those powers. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the Office of the Mayor is authorized to enter into an Agreement for a Grant Contract with the State of Hawaii Department of Transportation. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor of the County of Hawaii is authorized to sign the above-referenced agreement and any related documents on behalf of the Office of the Mayor and the County of Hawaii pursuant to the Hawaii County Charter. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the County Clerk of the County of Hawaii shall transmit copies of this resolution to the Office of the Mayor, the Hawaii County Mass Transit Agency, the Finance Department, and the State of Hawaii Department of Transportation.
