above resolution and bill. 'I~he State of Hawaii Department ofTransportation.
through its State Planning & Research (SPR) Program, has authorized a grant to the
County of Hawaii for the preparation of the Puna Kcgional Circulation Plan. 'l~hese
funds, derived from the Fcdcral Highway Administration, will be used to develop a
long-range regional transportation circulation plan Ibr the Puna region, the most
rapidh growing district in our Count}.

above bill. The State of Hawaii Department of Human Services has increased the
Chore Agreement for the County of Hawaii. These ~lmds will supplement the
current salaries and wages budget of CSE and enable the staff to provide in-home
chore services to an increased number of disabled/older adults.

through its State Planning & Research (SPR) Program. has authorised the subject
grant k~r the Puna and Kona districts. A paratransil system includes public and
private mass transportation in the spectrum between the private automobiles and
conventional transit, and includes modes that are demand responsive and share rides.
These funds are derived from the Federal Highway Administration.

OPERATING BUDGET FOR THE COUNTY OF HAWAII FOR THE PISCAI,
YEAR ENDING JUNE 30, 2004 (by appropriating a $44,000 "Jaws of Life" Project
grant)
From Finance Director William 'hakaba, dated No~'ember 4.200;. transmitting the
above resolution and bill. The State of Hawaii Department of Transportation has
authorized the subject grant with the goal of reducing the number of deaths and
complications from serious injuries. resulting from motor vehicle accidents, by
equipping fire crews with the tools to extricate pinned vehicle occupants faster than
is currently done. The grant funds will be used to purchase power extrication tools.
commonly called the "Jaws of Lile". and have them assigned to the Kaumana and
Kawailani Firc units.
