Water has leaked in times of heavy rains and this as well as humidity has made the carpet a suspected health hazard due to mildew, mold etc. Carpet will be replaced with a different type of flooring that will not be susceptible to mildew, mold, etc. Additionally, furniture in Mayor's Office (sofa, loveseat, chairs) was purchased in 1971 and some items are in poor condition and very ergonomically inadequate, with wood joints coming apart, finish ruined, low seats so difficult for visitors to sit and stand, etc. Replacing with more ergonomic items is more cost effective that trying to repair the thirty-two-year-old furniture. Funds necessary in Misc Contract Services to conduct air sampling and testing of Mayor's Office to assess potential of mold problem. Funds available in Regular S&W because two positions are vacant at the present time (anticipated to fill by 12/03).
