Dear Chairman Arakaki and Council Members: ~
It is my pleasure to inform you that I have appointed Ms. JoAnne
Balberde-Kamali'i to the County of Hawaii Committee on the Status of Women.
Ms. Balberde-Kamali`i, of Council District 3, is a life-long resident of Hawaii. She
is currently a school therapist at Hilo High School. She has served the
community as a member of the East Hawaii Red Cross Advisory Board, County
of Hawaii Family Violence Advisory Commission, and the County of Hawaii
Domestic Violence Inter-Agency Team.
Ms. Balberde-Kamali'i will serve a term to expire on December 31, 2005,
replacing Ms. Susan Shirachi, who has resigned. Ms. Balberde-Kamali`i states
that she is not affiliated with any political party.
