Thank you for your support regazding the rezoning of 14.5 acres adjacent to
the Kona Heights subdivision (SLU 03-007/REZ 03-018 TMK 7-5-19:30) at the
last Planning Commission meeting here in Kona. We were pleased with the
commission's vote and look forward to similar action at the Council level.
This brief note is a request to hold County Council hearing on this matter
in Kona rather than Hilo. It is a great inconvenience on Kona residents to
make the effort to attend the Hilo meetings. On issues unrelated to Kona it
is understandable, however on issues directly impacting our community it is
helpful when we can present our case in person rather than through letters
or intermediaries.
In addition to our request for the hearing to be held in Kona, I also
strongly urge you to oppose this rezoning. There really should be no
further development in the Kona Heights and Kailua View Estates until
appropriate traffic and impact studies have been conducted and solutions
found and implemented to need for infrastructure.
