Request: The Department of Liquor Control would like to appropriate $117,500 into our accounts as follows: 010.251-.06-450 Office Equip-Fixt-Faro $51,500 I. Transcriber & recorder $12,500 2. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED): In 1992, the department purchased 13 PC's and currently have only 6 PC's that are operable. Our present, workstations cannot be adequately protected from computer virus and an anti-virus software cannot be installed onto DOS/Win 3.1 1 PC's. Present PC's are old, out of warranty and not worth servicing. We are also requesting to upgrade our present system to allow us access to the County LAN/WAN. This will enable us to have connectivity with other agencies, Internet, E-mail program, County Databases, Wang, and on-line connectivity (no dial up) between Kona and Hilo Liquor Control offices. We are also requesting to purchase atranscriber/recorder and sound system for both our Kona and Hilo offices. At present, we are transporting our Hilo office system to Kona for commission, board, and other public hearings. Our present sound system was purchased in 1985 and we have been experiencing problems with our transcriber and recorder.. We would like to purchase an I.D. digital camera system: This system will allow us to process applicants for the creation of durable over-the-counter identification cards. It will enable us to store, print, archive and retrieve images and information pertinent to our examination process. At present, this process is being done manually. We currently process 1200 I.Ds annually and will be updating 5000 cards. We are also requesting funds from our fine monies for programs to promote compliance to liquor laws. Programs would include education, youth, enforcement, public service announcements, and promoting responsible drinking and driving. SIGNED:~~/~ DATE: /a -/may -~tx_3
