It is my pleasure to inform you that I have appointed the following individuals to the
county of Hawaii Mayor's Committee on the Status of Women.
Council District 2 - Ms. Dawn S. Pung is a 61-year resident of Hawaii and a retired
administrator of the Kau Hospital. Ms. Pung currently serves as an instructor for the
American Red Cross and has served as the chair in the past. She also is a first vice
president of the Zonta Club of Hilo, a board member of the American Cancer Society
and has held various offices with the Hawaii Nurses Association. Ms. Pung states that
she is not associated with any political party and will serve a term to expire on
December 31, 2004, replacing Ms. Beryl Iramina who has resigned.
Council District 1 - Ms. Ellen Takazawa is a 38-year resident of Hawaii and is retired
from the State of Hawaii Department of Education, working in the Parent Community
Networking Center at Kalanianaole School. She currently serves on the Big Island
Sustainable Communities Association and the Family and Community Education
Committee. She has served as president of the Kalanianaole School PTA and President
and leader of the 4-H Federation. Ms. Takazawa states that she is not affiliated with any
political party and will serve a term to expire on December 31, 2005, replacing Ms.
Suellen Tanaka who has resigned.
