Dear Chairman Arakaki and Council Members:
It is my pleasure to nominate the following individuals to the County of Hawaii
Liquor Adjudication Board.
Council District 7 - Mr. Morris K. Ota is a 70-year resident of Hawaii is currently
an engineer with the State of Hawaii, Department of Land and Natural
Resources. Mr. Ota has just completed a term with the County of Hawaii
Transportation Commission and has served on the Police and Traffic Safety
Commissions in the past. Mr. Ota states that he is not affiliated with any political
party and if confirmed, will replace Mr. Tsuyoki Nakashima, who resigned. He
will serve a term to expire on December 31, 2004.
Council District 3 - Ms. Denise L.M. Walker is an 11-year resident of Hawaii
and is the owner/manager of Walker Consultants, Ltd. Ms. Walker currently
serves on the State of Hawaii Small Business Regulatory Review Board and is a
member of the National Federation of Independent Business People's
Leadership Council. She states that she is not affiliated with any political party.
If confirmed, she will serve a term to expire on December 31, 2006, replacing
Mr. Ron Castillo, who resigned.

Council District 8 - Mr. Jack L. Ferguson is a nine-year resident of Hawaii and
is a Surrogate Parent/Advocate with Educational Services Hawaii. Mr. Ferguson
is a member of Hui Laulima, the Kona Elks Lodge, the U.S. Navy League, and
the Kona Kohala Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Ferguson states that he is a
member of the Republican Party, and will serve a term to expired on
December 31, 2008, replacing Jude Mattos, whose term expired on
December 31, 2003.
