It is my pleasure to inform you that I have appointed the following individuals to
the County of Hawaii Mayor's Committee on People with Disabilities.
Council District 5 - Ms. Denise L. Cowdrey is a five-year resident of Hawaii.
She is currently a program specialist with the Goodwill Industries of Hawaii, and
is the mother of a person with a developmental disability. Ms. Cowdrey is a
member of the Developmental Disabilities Council and a former parent
coordinator for Special Olympics in East Hawaii. She states that she is a
member of the Republican Party.
Council District 4 - Mr. Jack Matsui is an 80-year resident of Hawaii and is
currently retired. Mr. Matsui's list of community activities is too numerous to
enumerate. He has served on the State of Hawaii Commission on the
Handicapped. Also, he was inducted into the Hawaii Island Sports Hall of Fame.
Mr. Matsui states that he is not affiliated with any political party.
Both Ms. Cowdrey and Mr. Matsui will serve terms coterminous with my term.
