RESOLUTION NO. ,Draft 2
A RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING MARCH AS NATIONAL WOMEN'S HISTORY MONTH
WHEREAS, March 2004 is the sixteenth annual National Women's History Month; and
WHEREAS, the theme of this year's National Women's History Month is "Women Inspiring Hope And Possibility"; and
WHEREAS, the Hawaii County Committee on the Status of Women is sponsoring a "Real Women" Creative Writing
Competition for students island-wide in grades 5 through l2; and
WHEREAS, the essay contest increases awareness of the many different ways that women made history in Hawaii and fosters
pride in the outstanding accomplishments of women in Hawaii; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`1 that it recognizes March as
National Women's History Month and acknowledges the courage and countless contributions of women who made history throughout
the United States and especially on the island of Hawaii.
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of Hawaii is instructed to transmit copies of this resolution to Ms.
JoAnne Balberde-Kamalii, Essay Coordinator, and to the Hawaii County Committee on the Status of Women, along with the Hawaii
County Council's best wishes for success and recognition deserving of their worthy contributions.
