We feel that the project is consistent with the County General Plan and
the Keahole to Kailua Development Plan in that it provides and will support the needs of
the Kailua-Kona region, as it continues to grow and develop. Our endorsement IS
CONTINGENT UPON the following concerns that were raised in our discussion:
Landscaping: We appreciate your efforts to provide an enhanced project
entry, as well as landscaping along the entire Queen Kaahumanu highway
frontage of your project. Aecause of the importance of this corridor in being
the point of entry for many of the visitors to our island, we ask that you work
to install these improvements during the early stages of your prgject.
Wastewater Trcaluteut/Disposal: We ask that you take extra ef£orfs to
ensure that all wastewater generated on site be treated and disposed. of in
accordance with all governmental regrrlatinns. Of extreme importance to our
business community is the preservation of the integrity o£ the near shore
coastal waters, especially those in the vicinity of the National Park, near the
proposed project.
Transportation: Uf importauce to our members is the current traffic situation
along Queen Kaahwnanu Highway. We ask that you mitigate the impacts of
ail lralxc generated by roar project. Appropriate traffic control measures
should be implemented to ensure the smooth flow of traffic within and
through. the. pmject. area.
While we advocate the expansion of business and the continuing of development in West
Hawaii, we insist that new businesses and developments fully wnsider West Hawaii's
Comm.
