RE: Request for Information on Self Insurance Fund
I apologize for being so slow to send this over to you. With all of our budget meetings
the last two weeks, I'm behind on much of my other work. Attached is the original of the
memo that was faxed to your office earlier, per your request. I have also included a
workpaper showing the activity in the Self Insurance Fund.
Bill Takaba had a much better explanation than I did for the use of the "Confidential"
stamp on the attached memo. Within the various County departments "Confidential" is
used to identify documents containing sensitive information. It is not intended to identify
documents as exempt from public disclosure under OIP rules, but rather that it must be
handled with discretion. Since the information I sent you was faxed, and might be
received by one of several people in your office, Gerald Takase probably felt that the
prudent way to handle it was to mark it confidential so it would receive special
treatment. Thus his recommendation.
