Dear Sir:
After a presentation of the Bill # 216 by Council-member, Michael Tulang on January
11,'2004, the Kaumana City Association is in full support of his proposal to add water
to the empty Fire Hydrants in Kaumana City. Currently, the prohibiting cost of
converting to county water is in discussion by community members but the need for
fire safety is obvious to all. Keep in mind, we will be the first community to meet lava
if Mauna Loa deades to flow towards Hilo, again.
The community has grown from 7 homes in 1984 when we first started building, to
150 homes, currently with the nearest fire station some 7 miles or 15 minutes,
downhill. The advent of Puainako Extension and Saddle Road Realignment will
further accelerate growth in the community. Please help us build towards a safer
future.
