Comm. 511: RESOLUTION ADVOCATING THE ESTABLISHMENT OF AN (Res. 89) AGRICULTURAL PRESERVE IN HAMAKUA From PC Chairman Takashi Domingo, dated July 28, 1993, transmitting a resolution requesting that all state and county agencies having jurisdiction over all of Hamakua's sugar lands keep its land use designation in agriculture and intensive agriculture and to discourage future applications to urbanize those properties. Also, requests the Planning Director to conduct the necessary feasibility study to designated parcels makai of the lower Hamakua ditch system through the southern boundary of Paauilo and all lands of Waipio Valley to its northern boundary as an agricultural preserve, exclusively for agricultural uses. Yamashiro, dated July 23, 1993, informing that the development of the Hilo Community Development Plan has been assigned to the Planning Department which is drafting a scope-of-work and timetable for the project's completion. States he has advised them of the urgency of completing the document. Comm. 516: RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE BIG ISLAND TO HE (Res. 91) OFFICIALLY RECOGNIZED AS "HAWAII ISLAND" IN FUTURE PROMOTIONS From Councilwoman Helene H. Hale, dated July 29, 1993, transmitting a resolution requesting the Department of Business, Economic Development and Tourism and the Hawaii Visitors Bureau to officially recognize the Big Island as "Hawaii Island" and to gear future promotions to this proper identity. Comm. 515: From Councilwoman Helene H. Hale, dated July 29, 1993, transmitting a communication from Roy S. Blackshear, President, W. H. Shipman, Limited, commenting on the continual confusion and misunderstanding that occurs from the use of the term "Big island," and suggests the name "Hawaii Island" be promoted. Attaches communications from the Hawaii Visitors Bureau which he feels adds confusion to the island's identity. Res. 87-93: RESOLUTION URGING THE PLANNING DEPARTMENT TO DENY THE (C-496) PROPOSED PLANNED UNIT DEVELOPMENT APPLICATION OF TRANS PACIFIC DEVELOPMENT CORP., INC. - KAIULANI SUBDIVISION Intr. by: Mr. Rosehill (Council referred Res. 87-93 to PC - 07/28/93) Comm. 496.01: From HS&PWC Chairman Bob Rosehill, dated July 22, 1993, transmitting copy of a memo from the Engineering Division to the Planning Department regarding the proposed subdivision development, to be named Kaiulani Subdivision, on East Kawailani Street.
