Thank you for the opportunity to appear before the Hawaii County Council's
Committee on Finance on Tuesday, February 3, 2004.
The Council mentioned that it would appreciate a more specific breakdown of the
allocation of the $3.9 million dollar Department of Justice (DOJ), Community
Oriented Policing Services (COPS) grant that was awarded to the Hawaii
Community Foundation (HCF) for the Hawaii Island Meth Initiative. Based on
that request, the following information is submitted for your review:
I. Enforcement - $900,000
• $525,000 - HPD
• $175,000 -Prosecutor's Office
• $200,000 -Drug Court
II. Treatment - $1,500,000
• $1,000,000 -Adolescent Residential Treatment Program
• $500,000 -Hawaii Island Community Treatment Fund
III. Prevention - $1,500,000
• $500,000 -Hawaii Island Community Prevention Fund
• $200,000 -Domestic Violence Grants
