Dear Chairman Arakaki and Council Members:
It is my pleasure to nominate Ms. Kathleen B. Lassiter to the County of Hawaii
Police Commission. Ms. Lassiter, of Council District 1, is a lifelong resident of
Hawaii and is retired from the State of Hawaii as the director for the Wailoa
Center. She is a member of the State of Hawaii Arthritis Board, and is past
president of the American Heart Association. She serves on the 4-H Advisory
Committee and is a 4-H leader. Ms. Lassiter states that she is a member of the
Republican Party. If confirmed, she will serve a term to expire on December 31,
2008. She will replace Ms. Phoebe Lambeth, whose term expired on
December 31, 2003.

Ms. Kathleen Lassiter of Council District 1 to the County of Hawaii Police
Commision.
Pursuant to Section 1(g) of Rule 4 of the Rules of Procedure of the Council of the County of
Hawaii, this written request is submitted with my approval that the above-referenced matter be
waived from the Committee on Finance to the full Council for immediate action. In reviewing
this matter, timely approval is crucial. It is therefore advantageous that approval is granted and
the matter placed onto the next Council agenda for review. However, in the event this request is
denied, for whatever reason, I understand the matter shall be referred to the Committee on
Finance for placement on its future agenda.
