Dear Chairman Arakaki and Council Members:
It is my pleasure to nominate the following individuals to the County of Hawaii
Transportation Commisison:
Council District 1 - Mr. Peter S. Lerma is a lifelong resident of Hawaii who is currently
employed by the Norwegian Cruise Line. Mr. Lerma is a past secretary of the National
Wildlife Conservation Association of Hawaii and is a member of the Honomu Village
Association. Mr. Lerma states that he is not affiliated with any political party. If
confirmed, he will serve a term to expire on December 31, 2005, replacing Ms. Beverly
Chrisman, who resigned.
Council District 3 -Douglas A. Espejo is a lifetime resident of Hawaii and is the
manager for Big Island Car Wash. He currently serves on the Rotary Club of Hilo and
Crime Stoppers, East Hawaii. Mr. Espejo states that he is not affiliated with any political
party, and if confirmed, will serve a term to expire on December 31, 2008. He is
replacing Mr. Paul Matsumoto, whose term expired on December 31, 2003.
