Dear Mr. Arakaki,
We have just received a copy of the proposed Bill #230, regarding the change of speed limits in
the Kaloko Mauka Subdivision.
Although we are not an incorporazed community association there has been quite a bit of
community activity involving about fifty residents over the last several years, and discussions about various
subjects that impact the subdivision. Most recently, we have re-established the Neighborhood Watch
Program (which the two of us are coordinating).
What we would like to request in this letter, is to allow us time to show this proposal to these
residents, and allow some time for a discussion, and perhaps comments, on the issue from within the
community. The following should be considered comments from two residents only:
1. Keep the speed limit at 45 MPH from the middle crossing of Hao Street, to the top (East) end
of the road.
2. Place signage that isolates specific curves or hazards, that would recommend an appropriaze
speed, or give a warning for a particular hazard.
3. Reduce speed limit to 35 MPH below (West ot) the middle crossing of Hao Street, where [he
parcels have been subdivided to three or less acres (more congested).
4. Reduce speed a[ last curve, associated with kids' bus stop area and their walking home, to 25
MPH, and consider signage to support children's safety.
We agree that many people do drive too fast and that the issue should be addressed. We only ask
that the residents be allowed time to see this and comment on it if possible.
