The Honorable Chairman James Y. Arakaki
and Members of the County Council
County of Hawaii
Hilo, HI 96720
Dear Chairman Arakaki and Council Members:
It is my pleasure to nominate Mr. Thomas S. Goya to the County of Hawaii Water
Board. Mr. Goya, of Council District 2, is a lifelong resident of Hawaii and is
retired from the Hawaii Electric Light Company as the manager for Customer
Service. He has served as past president of the Japanese Chamber of
Commerce and past director for the Kiwanis Club of East Hawaii. He is a
director for the Hilo High School Foundation, an advisor to the Hilo High School
Key Club, vice president with the Japanese Community Association, and he is a
member of the Hawaii Island Economic Development Board's Science and
Technology Committee. Mr. Goya states that he is not affiliated with any political
party. If confirmed, he will serve a term to expire on December 31, 2008. He is
replacing Mr. John Tolmie, whose term expired on December 31, 2003.
Your review and favorable recommendation would be appreciated.
If you have any questions, please contact me at your convenience.
Aloha,
Harry Kim
