Uate CITY COUNCIL ~ C • f " • CITY AND COUNTY OF HONOLULU NO. ~ _ ~ 5 HONOLULU, HAWAII RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE DESIGNATION OF HSAC REPRESENTATIVES TO THE BOARD OF ADVISORS OF THE CENTER FOR ALTERNATIVE DISPUTE RESOLUTION. WHEREAS, Chapter 613, Hawaii Revised Statutes (HRS), establishes the Center for Altemative Dispute Resolution ("the Center") within the State judiciary; and WHEREAS, the Center's purpose is to facilitate the effective, timely, and voluntary resolution of disputes to reduce the cost of litigation and increase satisfaction ~:vi`:h ±he jL~~t;;,e .C. y.~rt~,ii; and WHEREAS, Section 613-3, HRS, establishes a Board of Advisors ("Board") with the duties of reviewing the Center's work and advising the Chief Justice and Center staff on alternative dispute resolution methods; and WHEREAS, the Board consists of nine members, two of whom must be representatives of the Hawaii State Association of Counties (HSAC); and WHEREAS, by letter dated October 15, 2003 (Miscellaneous Communication 1), the Director of the Center for Altemative Dispute Resolution has written the HSAC President that since both HSAC seats on the Board are vacant, that the vacancies be filled by Aaron Chung, Hawaii Councilmember, and JoAnn Yukimura, Kauai Councilmember; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City and County of Honolulu that the HSAC Executive Committee is authorized to designate Aaron Chung, Hawaii Councilmember, and JOAnn Yukimura, Kauai Councilmember, as the HSAC representatives to the Board of Advisors of the Center for Alternative Dispute Resolution; and EM OCS00012.R04 1 ~ CITY COUNCIL 1 " • CITY AND COUNTY OF HONOLULU NO. ~ _ HONOLULU, HAWAII RESOLUTION BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the HSAC President, the Council Chairs of the Hawaii and Kauai County Councils, and the Director of the Center for Alternative ispute Resolution.
