Grant Period (Commencement & Completion): June L6, 2003 -July 25, 2003
Goals: To provide a healthy meal to qualified children of the Summer Fun program
through the DOE Summer Food Service Program.
Objectives: a. Establish a free lunch program at the following sites:l) Kekuaokalani Gym, Kailua,
Kona; 2) Hale Halawai Ctr, Kailua, Kona; 3) Yano Hall, Capt. Cook, Kona; 4) Hisaoka Gym, Kohala;
5) Waimea Comm Ctr, Waimea; 6) Papa'ikou Comm Ctr, Papaikou; 7) Honoka'a Gym, Honoka'a;
8) Stanley Costales Gym, Hilo; 9) Andrews Gym, Hilo; 10) Hilo Armory, Hilo; 1 Pahala Comm Ctr,
Ka'u; 12) Mt. View Gym, Mt. View; 13) Shipman Gym, Kea'au; 14) Pahoa Comm Ctr, Pahoa
b. To have the meals boxed and delivered to the respective sites.
Outcomes or Results: A free food service program was conducted for the six-week summer fun program
at the four desired sites. Meals were boxed and delivered to each site and enjoyed by the youngsters.
