RE: Bill 231 Relating to Scenic Corridors =
Dear Chairman Elarionoff,
The Board of Directors of the Kona-Kohala Chamber of Commerce respectfully requests
your support of Bill 231, relating to Scenic Corridors.
The inclusion in the County Code of a program to enable the identification and
designation of Scenic Corridors in Hawaii County will provide an important tool in
planning for, developing, and enhancing scenic, historic, and or recreational resources
along appropriate transportation corridors.
With the growing frustration felt among many in the community regarding our traffic
problems in West Hawaii, it is important to provide increased tools to enhance the
experience of traveling, that will benefit residents and visitors; automobiles, pedestrians,
and bike riders.
And with the adoption of a Scenic corridor Program within the County Code, we will
position ourselves to receive additional funding from the Federal Scenic Byways
Program.
