Objectives: 1) Increase energy efficiency for the county and community. 2) Promote renewable energy resources. 3) Coordinate with the Federal and State agencies in regard to energy emergency preparedness. Outcomes or Results: Audited savings in electricity costs for the first yeaz ofpost-retrofit operations at the Hilo Public Building and Kona Police Station totaled $143,934. The County also received $9,581.52 in DSM rebates from HELCO for energy efficiency measures implemented in FY 02-03. Department of Water Supply started work ~ OS Comm. With assistance from the Energy Coordinator, they were successful in obtaining a US Deparhnent of Energy grant for $42,810 to assist this initiative. The Energy Coordinator managed the $500,000 Project Impact grant to the County and submitted the final report to FEMA in November 2002. Form FR 6/01
