As the population of the Big Island continues to increase the public expectation is for the public services
to continue to be proportionally funded. The County of Hawaii Fire Department funding has not
seemed to benefit from this population increase and I am writing this letter to express my expectation
that funding for the County of Hawaii Fire Department either not decrease or, preferabty, increase.
The Fire Department is directly responsible for public safety, inGuding fire protection, emergency
services, fire prevention and other necessary functions which directly and positively impact the bcal
community of which you are a part. Please consider this as you decide how you will impact your
communities.
