Curtis Tyler's questions and request concerning the subject traffic code amendment, as noted below. 1. We have confirmed that there is no freight loading zone, on -ground or by ordinance, on Alii Drive, fronting Waterfront Row and Babba Gump ResCrurant. There is presently no room for a loading zone in this area; hence, the closest reasonable area is the proposed freight loading zone site. 2. Our Engineering Division records show that the sidewalk, fronting Waterfront Row, is partially within the County right-of-way, and partially within the private property. 3. We apologize that we did not get any further response on this matter from the Kona Traffic Safety Committee, whom this original proposal request came from, along with the Police Department. However, they have previously informed us that the merchants in the area are in favor of establishing this freight loading zone. 4. All freight loading zones, tts listed in Schedule 36, Section 24-288, HCC, have hours of operation between 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p -m. of any day, except Sundays and public holidays. We see no problems with specifying different hours of operation, as suggested (4:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.). Should you have any questions, please contact the undersigned at 961-8341.
