SUBJECT: TRAFFIC CODE AMENDMENT
Old Volcano Road In Keaau Village
No parking zones.
The Department of Public Works requests a no parking zone be authorized along the Old Volcano Road in Keaau
Village.
The parking prohibition is part of the Keaau Village commercial development which includes two-way left tum
lanes along the Old Volcano Road and exclusive left tum lanes at the Keaau-Pahoa Road intersection. The two-way
left turn lanes will accommodate access to the shopping center driveways on both sides of the highway.
We request the Hawaii County Code, Chapter 24, Article 10 Section 24-280, Schedule 28 (no parking at anytime)
under Puna be amended as described in the attached draft for an ordinance. A location map is attached.
Under separate cover, we are transmitting the proposed ordinance to the Public Works Committee Chair for
introduction.
We ask for your review and consideration for adoption of the subject amendment. Should you have any questions
