Hatada in Regards to his Violation of the County Code of Ethics

I have attached information contained in letters that I received from Mayor Kim concerning
Wendell Hatada violating the County Code of Ethics.

Dear Wendell:
I have received the Informal Advisory Opinion from the Board of Ethics, concluding that you
violated the Hawaii County Code of Ethics Section 2-83(a)(3). Attached is a copy of this
opinion for your information
Be aware that the type of behavior described in the Findings of Fad will not be tolerated by
this administration. All people are to be treated in a courteous, fair and impartial manner, as
requved by law and common sense.
You are hereby on notice that this shall not happen again.

Deaz Mr. Russi and Ms. Paul:
This letter is in response to your request for closttre on the issue of Wendell Hatada's
behavior.
You state that Mr. Hatada denied your request for public records under 92F, HRS because he
felt that Mr. Russi owed him money on a bet, and because this was not paid, that Mr. Russi
was a liaz.
Obviously, this is inappropriate behavior from a County employee, and I have spoken and
written to Mr. Hatada and told him that it is unacceptable for him to act in this manner.
